Why I Love British Grown Flowers
Why I Love British-Grown Flowers
When it comes to choosing flowers for your wedding, special event, or gift, there’s something really lovely about using stems that are grown right here in the UK. Here's why i'm such a fan of using British Grown flowers where ever possible!
1. Fresher Stems
British flowers haven’t travelled halfway across the world to get to us in the UK. They’re often cut just hours before I use them, which means they’re beautifully fresh.
2. Seasonal Beauty
There’s a charm that comes with using flowers that are in season. You get what’s naturally thriving—think springtime Narcissi, summer Sweetpeas, autumnal Dahlias, winter Hellebore. Every season brings its own character, colour palette & style.
3. Lower Carbon Footprint
Supporting local flower farms means fewer air miles, less packaging, and a much smaller environmental impact.
4. Grown in My Own Garden
Many of the flowers I use are grown in my own cutting garden here in South Wales. It’s a joy to grow from seed to bloom, and it means I can offer something truly personal and unique. Flowers that you literally can’t get anywhere else!
5. Support for Local Growers
I love to source from local British flower farmers—many of them small, family-run businesses just like mine, some who specialise in fresh cut flowers, and others in beautiful British grown dried stems! Choosing British stems helps keep these amazing growers thriving.
6. Wild & Natural Charm
British flowers often have that wild, whimsical feel I love working in line with. They’re perfect for my wild & natural style and always bring add that "picked from the garden" style we all adore!
If you love the idea of seasonal, home and locally-grown flowers, I’d love to chat about how we can bring that to life for your wedding or special occasion.
